St. Joseph’s Day Care Centre

The Social Action Group has reviewed our operations in light of the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. We are balancing the benefits to our clients of attendance at the St. Joseph’s Day Care Centre with the risk of catching coronavirus by social contact.

The HSE advise that there are some groups of people who may be more at risk of serious illness if they catch coronavirus.

The HSE advise that they do not think these groups have a higher risk of catching coronavirus. This is similar to other infections such as flu.
It is likely you are more at risk of serious illness if you catch coronavirus and you are one of the following:

  • 60 years of age and over.
  • Have a long-term medical condition – for example, heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, cancer or high blood pressure.

The Social Action Group has conducted a Risk Analysis relating to all aspect of the operation of St. Joseph’s Day Care Centre. A large number of additional control measures have been put in place to reduce the risk of infection and sickness from contracting the virus. These measures are in line with best available information from the HSE. There remains a risk, as in any public place, of contracting Covid 19 virus while attending the Day Care Centre. We are contacting all clients and their families to advise them that they should evaluate the risks and benefits to themselves of continuing to attend St. Joseph’s Day Care Centre.

As part of these risk mitigation measures we are requesting the help of relatives where possible to transport their relatives to the Day Care Centre to help us to maximise social distancing while on SAG vehicles. The SAG vehicles will continue to provide a transport service to clients who do not have alternative transport arrangements.

We are asking all clients and their family to inform themselves of the current HSE advice copied below and available at www2.hse.ie

We will continue to monitor events and will have on-going communication with you as this situation evolves. The health of our clients and of our community is our paramount concern as at all times. Please contact us on 064 7758588 between 8.30 am to 3.30 pm if you have any questions or concerns.

Yours sincerely,
Norah O’Connor,
Clinical Nurse Manager.
